The Pig 80K Functional Mutations Genotyping Kit was jointly researched and developed by Yangxiang Co., Ltd. and Yingzi Gene in collaboration with Huazhong Agricultural University. Integrating the latest achievements in porcine genome research, the locus design has significantly enhanced the efficiency of mining valuable genomic information and improving the accuracy of breeding value assessment, thereby providing a new and powerful tool to accelerate the improvement of breeding pigs.

At the meeting, Li Xinyun, the Professor of Huazhong Agricultural University and Chief Scientist of Yingzi Gene provided a comprehensive introduction to the Pig 80K Functional Variants Genotyping Array. The Pig 80K Functional Variants Genotyping Array is a liquid-phase chip featuring on-demand customization, flexibility for upgrading and higher information capacity compared with solid-phase chips.
To unearth functional genomic loci in pigs, the genetic breeding team at Huazhong Agricultural University spent several years in systematically analyzing the pig genome, conducting multi-omics studies on 12 pig tissues. They have meticulously annotated the pig genome, created an integrated omics functional gene discovery technology and platform, and identified over 300,000 functional mutation loci. Based on these research findings, they then carefully selected 80,483 functional loci and finally designed the Pig 80K Functional Mutations Genotyping Kit. Locus typing is carried out using self-developed precise capture sequencing technology, with the accuracy and detection rates exceeding 99%.
The Pig 80K Functional Variants Genotyping Array, in combination with Yingzi Gene's self-developed breeding value evaluation algorithm KAML and the genomic big data processing platform HiBLUP, enables more efficient utilization of genomic and phenotypic data, thereby enhancing breeding value evaluation accuracy and breeding efficiency.
